Lights

The power went off during my last class of the day.  Though it was only around 12:30 (we have a short school day on Mondays), it was pitch dark in my room for a moment.

Some fellow asked "What will happen if the power goes off again?"  The smarty pants art teacher said, "We'll be sitting in the dark."

Wucca wucca.

Love it. I'm always happy to see that other art teachers aren't afraid to be a little snarky with their students!

Upon reflection, I realize that it was a "teachable moment"; a "wonder" moment, if you will. However, it was the end of the day...with three meetings to follow. What can I say?

2 Weeks ago at school, the power was out for an hour at school! Most of the classrooms had enough light from windows to keep working. The art room, however, only had one table under the emergency light to be a workspace. We rescheduled the first class for later in the day and when my 2nd class just came filing in, I tried to find their teacher to see if we could work in their room... couldn't find him, it was too dark to do what I had planned, so when I realized that there was great lighting from the big windows and plants in the hallway, we went out there and made line drawings!
